I’ll fly away.

I leave for camp tomorrow!

This summer I’ll be in charge of making the weekly highlight video, taking cabin photos, and other media things. I wasn’t planning on going back to Tulahead for another summer but God had other plans. I am getting more excited for what’s in store as each day passes and especially as I found out who else is on staff. I know God is going to use the staff and and that lives will be changed. That’s what happened to me! Pray for me. And if you can, support me financially as well. God bless.

R.I.P Paul Edward Hawkes

I recently finished a film class where the main assignment was to create a short documentary about something you cared about.

I chose to make a film about my Gramps, Paul Edward Hawkes. The whole process of making a film was difficult but great. It was hard because he has only been gone for a few years and I still miss him so much.

Like a Day in Heaven

True love.

With February 14 just around the corner and Fifty Shades of Grey coming out (ugh), my attention has been drawn to the idea of “love”. Society today has warped the idea of “true” love into something so jaded, so disgusting, so pitiful, that it makes me angry. What society calls love, is mainly lust.

God made humans, and he made love. He made us to love each other. More importantly, we were made to love Him. THAT, is true love.

1 John 4:7-9 (NIV) says this:

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.”

As I go into the coming weeks, I’m trying to set my mind on loving people, not the idea of love.

Winter Retreat.

There is something special about getting together with good friends and spending time in the great outdoors. I love snow and whenever I have the chance to be in its presence, the outcomes are amazingly fun. Tobogganing, skating, snow ball fights, and eating snow are just a few things that filled my Christmas vacations.

I feel so much joy when I am singing. Especially with a large group of people, like a choir; it is so uplifting.

I recently was at a concert and constantly was trying to refrain from crying as the music brought back many good memories of when I was in choir myself.

Reflecting on those times, fills me with joy.

Below is a link to a clip of the Pacific Mennonite Children’s Choir. This choir has been a huge blessing in my life as well as many others all over the world.

I don’t know about you, but I love water.

Drinking water, swimming, kayaking…if water is involved, I usually am too. I have always been drawn to the mysteries of the ocean and what lies beneath the surface. Watch the video below – one man has found a way to hunt the ocean without the use of an oxygen tank or anything. It must be so freeing. But also extremely dangerous.
